GOLF

We believe that the local fairways are situated in some of the finest surroundings in the world. There are numerous inspiring golf courses to visit set in the spectacular backdrop of sea sky and hills

In the Machars and Rhins of Galloway we have a perfect range of courses for you to improve your game or just play a round of golf with a friend as the evening closes in. Play at first light and bear witness to the beautiful sunrises over the coast or amongst the forests.

You could start your holiday with a round of golf at our local golf course St Medan’s the most southerly golf course in Scotland, with views reaching out over Luce Bay towards the Irish sea. On a clear day it feels like you could touch the shores of the Isle of Man.

A special and possibly unique feature of St Medan’s course is that while there are 9 holes – there are 18 tees! Full details can be found on the club`s website St Medan Golf Course Monreith

Wigtown and Bladnoch courses both a short distance from the Holiday Park away are both 9-hole courses known locally as The Wee Gems.

Wigtownshire County Golf Course near Glen Luce is a true links course on the shores of Luce Bay with a warm welcome for visitors who want to experience golf in its truest form.

Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Course has a clifftop setting again offering spectacular views across the Irish sea. There is also Creachmore in Stranraer on the shores of Loch Ryan and was the last golf course to be designed by James Braid.

Further afield is Turnburry in Ayrshire and one of the best links courses is Royal Troon.

Game Fishing

Ever wanted to develop your skills at game fishing? The Machars of Galloway are an angler’s paradise with an abundance of game, course and sea fishing in the local area. Luce Bay is the most popular sea fishing venue in Scotland.

There are numerous game rivers within driving distance of Monreith Sands. Whichever river you are on, you are sure of a big surprise. The Bladnoch, Tarf and Cree are the main fishing rivers in the area and have an abundance of Salmon and Grilse. The Bladnoch is well known for Brown Trout and, from the month of June, the Cree has an excellent supply of Sea Trout. Both are spate rivers and are considered by many to be the best fishing waters on the West Coast of Scotland.

You can pick up a licence for the River Cree in the Angling shop in Newton Stewart. The river Cree runs straight through the town with pools called the Cinema Pool, Doctors Pool and many more on the stretch of water that travels from the East of the town and down to the estuary.

VISITOR TESTIMONIALS

Having owned a holiday home at Monreith Sands Park for 9 months it is everything that we could have wished for and more. Mark, the park owner gave us his expertise and excellent service right from the start and his staff are very helpful and friendly. The location could not be better, just a short walk to the villages and beach with its beautiful scenery. We also enjoy the golf courses and there are plenty of places where you can have a nice meal. We look forward to many happy years at Monreith Sands.

Real hidden gem of a holiday park, which we return to time and time again. Amazing views, fresh air, excellent location. Plenty to do around the village and local areas. We found lots of interesting places to take the kids for days out, but they were just as happy playing on the beach, we even went in the sea one day. It wasn’t too cold. The park has had a lot of improvements made recently. The owners are very helpful.

Ramsden Family

Hired a static home for a few days and had a top golfing holiday with some friends, we played all the local courses. Our favourite one was St Medans. We had food and drinks there too the clubhouse is friendly and prices are good. Did some fishing but didn’t catch anything. We had a few days just relaxing and enjoying the fresh air will be back later in the summer and seriously considering buying now that I have seen everything this place has to offer.

We own a Willerby static at Monreith Sands Holiday Park, it is our little escape place. Easy access from the North of England we can be there in in just a couple of hours. We spend weekends and holidays exploring the coast, we let friends use it on occasion. The park is well kept, tidy and recently had some upgrades to it. Our static is nice and cosy, perfect for relaxing.
